Global traveller, writer, photographer and former TV reporter/producer
Tamara Elliott is a Calgary-based journalist who spends just about every waking moment plotting her next trip, whether it’s exploring her backyard in Banff, road-tripping through Europe or exploring remote spots such as Uyuni, Bolivia.
During her nearly 10-year career at Global News as a reporter and producer, Tamara started GlobeGuide.ca, a website offering savvy tips for exploring destinations worldwide (40 countries and counting), and also specializing in sharing travel hacks. She has been featured in publications such as the Lonely Planet and MoneySense Magazine (special thanks to fellow TMAC member John Lee!). She has also written for publications such as AFAR Magazine where she authored an extensive guide to the Maldives.
Tamara has also worked closely with numerous DMOs and brands including My Switzerland, Iamsterdam, the Slovenian Tourist Board, Whitsundays Marketing and Ecoventura cruises. When not gallivanting around the globe, Tamara works as a communications specialist.
She has a FOMO (fear of missing out) travel philosophy which means she’s up for anything, anywhere. Some favourite travel experiences include honeymooning in the Maldives in an above water villa, a week-long cruise through the spectacular Galapagos Islands and taking a scenic flight over Australia’s Great Barrier Reef. When in Calgary, Tamara enjoys spending time with her husband and their two bulldogs (a Frenchie and an English-you know, that whole international thing!).
You may wish to personally welcome Tamara to the TMAC Alberta-NWT Chapter. Here are her co-ordinates.
