[PETERBOROUGH, ON] Peterborough & the Kawarthas Tourism has recently launched a new marketing campaign, "The Chefs of Peterborough & the Kawarthas" which features local chefs, committed to serving fresh, local food, coinciding with the highly anticipated market season.

The digital campaign which can be found at www.thekawarthas.ca/thechefs showcases 10 chefs who have a passion for local fare. Visitors using www.visitourtable.com, the destination's portal to information about the local food experience will learn about the food scene in Peterborough & the Kawarthas, and can view profiles on each chef which include a short biography, their food philosophy, a short video, as well as a locally inspired recipe, with a list of local ingredients and their sources.

The campaign will run through the fall harvest season and the content will be promoted across a variety of mediums including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube and the destination's "Visitor Experience Insider" newsletter. The goal of the campaign is to draw attention to the people and stories behind the farm-to-table movement in the area, ultimately driving business to local food establishments, area markets, farm gates and other food experiences throughout region.

"We work closely with the chef community in our region on the promotion of food and drink, and it is apparent to us how passionate they are about this community, and about local food. We wanted to enhance our culinary program which gives visitors an insider perspective on the food scene" said Fiona Dawson, Director of Tourism for Peterborough & the Kawarthas Tourism.

Each chef was asked the same question, "Of all of the places in the world you could have worked, why did you choose Peterborough & the Kawarthas". The responses were captured in a video series which speaks volumes about the destination, with a resounding consensus that a visit to Peterborough & the Kawarthas will provide an experience that visitors will be savouring long after they leave.

"Our region offers honest goodness through an abundance of fresh, natural, authentic food experiences that visitors are seeking. It is not uncommon to find our chefs at a local market in the morning, and to have them serving you those ingredients later that day at your table. The chefs profiled in this series are just a small handful of the great people who are making this a sought after destination for food-lovers". She adds.
