Vanessa Chiasson brings warmth and depth to travel and human interest narratives. Her blog, TurnipseedTravel.com, focuses on cozy, affordable travel experiences and was named one of the world’s most influential travel blogs by the Obama White House in 2014.

Vanessa’s passion for travel, writing, and digital media has led her to share her expertise with others. She leads business workshops for freelance writers and has presented to CBC Radio, CTV Morning Live, the Travel Bloggers Exchange Conference, the Women in Travel Summit, and more.

Raised in Nova Scotia and now based in Ottawa, Vanessa has lived in Malawi, England, Ireland, and France. Her past (mis)adventures include running a marathon in Paris, working on Malawian fish farms, and getting seasick at Amsterdam’s Houseboat Museum. Some of her current interests include sustainable food, heirloom gardens, the work of L.M. Montgomery and Maud Lewis, independent bookstores, bakeries, and coffee bars, hiking, and collecting beach glass.
