Ursula Maxwell-Lewis is a British Columbia-based columnist and photographer. Her popular monthly columns appear (in print and on-line) in Black Press Newspapers(170 throughout Western Canada), Spotlight on the Arts Magazine, Today’s Senior News for over decades. Her work also has appeared in a variety of publications in Canada, Britain and South Africa.

Trained with Amalgamated Press (South Africa) as a news journalist, her global career has involved working throughout Africa, Asia, Britain, Europe, and much of North America.

After residing in various countries, her always-ready-for-takeoff carry-on bag is now on permanent stand-by in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada.

Readers are seasoned travellers with active lifestyles.

Ursula was the founder, publisher and managing editor of the Cloverdale Reporter News. After selling the CRN to Black Press Newspaper Group she remained as Managing Editor until adjourning to her less stressful, more flexible, position of columnist within the group of 170 community newspapers.

Ursula is passionate about Africa, Canada, Asia, Britain and Europe. South America remains on her ‘yet to explore’ list.

Unique adventures (land, sea, rail or air), intriguing hideaways, ‘novel’ destinations, aviation stories, history, textile tales, rail adventures and fabulous food features are her fortés.

Awards include:  Citizen of the Year (Chamber of Commerce), Royal Canadian Legion Media Award, Service to Community Award, Woman of the Year Award.

Enthusiastic (non-championship social-side) golfer. Avid reader and libraries advocate.
