I'm an award winning journalist and travel writer — and the former travel and lifestyle editor at the Vancouver Courier newspaper, which recently closed after 112 years due to COVID-19.

Today I am a freelance writer, editor and content creator with a passion for travel. I'm also copy editor for a magazine dedicated to all things beer called, The Growler BC, which also runs travel stories — dedicated to all things beer.

I've most recently written for Explore Magazine, Roundup Magazine, Slate Magazine, Bon Vivant magazine, Discover Surrey, Black Press, InnFocus magazine, TELUS and Cannabis Retailer. I'm also a regular guest to talk travel on CARPe Diem, a TV show for baby boomers, which falls under Zoomer Media, and was recently invited to contribute to West Coast Traveller, which falls under Black Press and covers the West Coast from California to the Yukon, as well as VITA, "Canada’s premiere online lifestyle magazine, with a group of seven free, savvy, online e-newsletters in major Canadian cities that target educated, affluent women who are starved for time and hungry for information."

I've also launched a new website, sandrathomasmedia.com, dedicated to travel and lifestyle stories from Metro Vancouver and beyond.

My travel writing interests include culinary travel, hotel reviews, cruises, luxury travel, food and drinks, Indigenous tourism, history, culture, budget travel, sun, sea and sand, quirky, Canadiana, people profiles and more.

I also write about individual and group press trip travels and, as a grandmother, multi-generational travel.
