Originally from northern Alberta, award-winning journalist Jessica Wynne Lockhart is based in Australia, where she is Lonely Planet's Destination Editor for Oceania. In addition to editing and writing content for Lonely Planet, she continues to freelance for her Canadian, US, UK and NZ clients. Her award-winning features have been published in BBC, CBC, Condé Nast TravelerThe Toronto Star, Smithsonian, Outside, enRoute, The Globe and Mail, Range, TIME, Reader’s Digest, Paddling Magazine, USA Today and more. Her column in the New Zealand Herald examines issues related to ethical travel and she edits Verge Magazine, a Canadian publication devoted to “travel with purpose.” She is the author of Frommer’s New Zealand and the co-author of several Lonely Planet titles.
