I am a writer/photographer/blogger/publisher. Together with my husband Robin Karpan (TMAC member), we reach thousands of readers and viewers each year through a combination of online and print media. We publish the popular travel blog Photo Journeys (photojourneys.ca), with a focus on travel photography. It is named by Feedspot as among the Top 100 Travel Photography Sites worldwide (we’re currently in the Top 25) and the Top 100 Canadian Photography Sites (we’re currently in the Top 10). Photo Journeys received an Honourable Mention as the Best Travel Blog or Column at the TMAC Awards.

We have a regular travel column “Tales From the Road” in the Western Producer newspaper and Western Producer Digital Editions, with circulation primarily throughout western Canada. We are frequent contributors to We Explore Canada (weexplorecanada.com), Explore Magazine, Traveling Mitch (travelingmitch.com), Must Do Canada (mustdocanada.com), Prairies North Magazine, among others. The travel books we author and publish through our company Parkland Publishing include Canadian bestsellers. Some have also won awards. We contribute freelance articles and photography to various publications. Some samples in recent years include Vacay, Canadian Roadstories, Canadian Geographic, CAA Saskatchewan, Travel Guide to Canada, Canadian Nature Photographer, and AMA Insider. We are well experienced in the business, and over many years our stories and/or photos have been published in over 100 publications around the world, including magazines such as National Geographic Traveler, GEO, Conde Nast Traveler, and Outdoor Photographer.

Awards for our work have included First Place in competitions such as the TMAC Awards, SATW Canadian Chapter Awards, NATJA Awards, and Travel Media Awards in the Saskatchewan Tourism Awards of Excellence. In 2024 we were Finalists in the Travel Media Professional of the Year Award in the TIAC Canadian Tourism Awards. Our photography has received recognition in various international photography competitions such the SATW Bill Muster Photo Award, Festival de l’Oiseau et de la Nature (France), Siena International Photography Awards (Italy), Montier Festival Photo Awards (France), WildArt Photographer of the Year (UK), Feria Internacional de Turismo Ornitologico (Spain), FotoNoja Nature Photography Competition (Spain), Outdoor Photographer of the Year (UK), among others.

Over the years we have worked with numerous tourism offices, destination marketing organizations, tour operators, and other businesses. A sample of collaborations in recent years includes Banff and Lake Louise Tourism, Waterton Park Chamber of Commerce, Noelle Aune Communications, Visit Phoenix, Tourism Yukon, Parks Canada, Canadian Badlands, Tourism Saskatchewan, Saskatchewan Provincial Parks, Destination BC, Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, Tourism Winnipeg, Travel Manitoba, Destination Cape Breton Association, Authentic Quebec, Tourism Victoria, Ontario Provincial Parks, Tourism Thunder Bay, Abitibi-Témiscamingue Tourism, Quebec Maritime, Tourism New Brunswick, Tourism PEI, and Tourism Nova Scotia. We collaborate with various businesses and organizations on special projects. For example, for two consecutive years our photos were used as part of the Canada Post From Far and Wide stamp series, featuring nine iconic Canadian landscapes.

Our social media strategy is to concentrate on top quality photography which frequently gets shared by tourism offices, destination marketing organizations, and others with huge followings, thereby dramatically increasing the reach of our postings.

We cover a wide array of travel experiences, with our main specialties being nature, wildlife, ecotourism, outdoor adventure, outdoor photography, and going beyond the ordinary. The quality of our photography is one of our major strengths and a key to our success, so destinations we work with are assured that their products are being portrayed in the best possible light.
