Learn about how the hotel offsets the carbon footprint of each guest while enjoying a ‘low carbon’ plated lunch prepared by Executive Chef Ken Nakano.

Inn at Laurel Point has introduced several initiatives to minimize its carbon footprint, including:

·       Hydrothermal technology to cool rooms with ocean water;

·       Donating unused bath products to Soap for Hope, an initiative by environmental brand Diversey;

·       Upcycling worn-out sheets into bandages for developing nations; and

·       Offsetting its remaining carbon footprint though local investments in nature.

·       First-ever hotel in North America to join The Climate Pledge, an initiative, co-founded by Amazon and Global Optimism

·       Installed 60,000 pollinator honey bees in our 1 acre of gardens

The 2019 renewal of Inn at Laurel Point also introduced a one-acre garden at the back of the hotel that grows an eclectic mix of edible plants and flowers – a first on Vancouver Island, and rare among hotel gardens, which are typically limited to herbs and spices.

Alongside offsetting the carbon footprint for guests at the hotel, Inn at Laurel Point introduced its carbon neutral events program in April of last year, in collaboration with Victoria non-profit Synergy Enterprises. This event package enables Inn at Laurel Point to help event planners calculate their carbon footprint and offset travel and food related emissions. Event planners are then provided with a certificate of authenticity to recognize their commitment to carbon neutrality.
