With 44% of the country's farmland in our province, it's no surprise that Saskatoon has some of the most innovative local dishes, drinks and food products up north (mustard gin anyone? ). To work up an appetite to try it all, head to 80km of urban parkland trails along the South Saskatchewan River to experience adventure year-round on a one-wheel, kicksled, snowshoes or paddleboard. Off the beaten track you'll find even more adventure by getting into a stock car and racing on a small Nascar track. If your preferred speed is a bit slower, check out Saskatoon's diverse arts and culture with a visit and tipi overnight at an Indigenous heritage park up for UNESCO status.
World's Largest Picasso Linocut Collection at the Remai Modern
The Remai Modern opened October 2017 amidst much anticipation. Set along the scenic banks of the South Saskatchewan River, the building won awards for its architecture prior to being built. Considered one of the top new museums in the world to visit (by the NY Times), the Remai Modern is home to the world's largest Picasso linocut collection and some of his ceramics. Artists such as Jimmy Durham, after stints at The Hammer, Walker Museum and The Whitney, will make an appearance in early 2018. Outside the museums walls, Saskatoon's streets and alleyways are filled with more art and creativity, something found aplenty in Saskatoon, one of Canada's youngest cities.
