    Sustainable Tourism
    The UNWTO has declared 2017 the “Year of Sustainable Tourism”, but what does that really mean? By exploring the current status of leading edge, and not-so-leading edge, organizations, attendees should expect to come away with an understanding of how sustainability in the travel industry is so much more than leaving sheets unchanged and towels on the towel rack. Using leadership examples such as the Cayuga Collection in Costa Rica and Nimmo Bay Wilderness Resort in western Canada, mixed with some less-than-stellar attempts at greenwashing, the session should help to answer some important questions on the future of tourism and travel.

    Bio: Brian Cant is the senior manager of client and media relations with the Tartan Group, a West Coast-based integrated communications firm. He was first put on skis by his dad at the age of 18 months and has never looked back. Brian equally loves connecting with clients as he does with media and his true passion shines through when he’s able to share his love of travel and sustainability. When he’s not sharing his travel experiences, you’ll find him looking for good, fast turns around the mountains of British Columbia.

    TMAC 2018 

    TMAC is currently in discussions with a potential host destination for 2018. The successful bidder will be announced at the 2017 Conference & AGM in Quebec City on Saturday, May 27, 2017.

     

    TMAC 2019 and onward
    We are currently in review of the request for proposal for 2019 and onward and have yet to finalize the deadlines for submission. However, if up are interested in the submission requirements and hosting details, the most recent RFP (which is currently associated with the 2018 request) can be viewed here.

    TRAVEL GRANT (for Media Members)

    If you register and pay before the early-bird deadline, you are eligible to apply for the TMAC Travel Grant for savings toward your transportation. Please note that you must attend a minimum number of Media Marketplace appointments to qualify.

    WHAT FEE INCLUDES

    • All conference meals (starting with Welcome Reception on Wednesday May 31, 2018 through until dinner on Saturday, June 3, 2018)
    • Attendance at all evening activities

    CANCELLATION

    FOR MEDIA
    There will be no refunds issued for media member conference registrations.

    If you select and are confirmed for a pre- and or post tour opportunity, any cancellations of your participation received after April 10, 2018 will be subject to a $125 penalty per tour. This is a nominal fee to assist in offsetting any charges incurred by the tour operators due to last minute cancellations. Individual exceptions will be considered by the conference committee and host on a case-by-case basis to consider unforeseen, legitimate cancellations.

    FOR INDUSTRY
    If an industry member cancels by April 10, 2018, 50% of the registration fee will be refunded. No refunds will be issued after this date. Substitutions can be made at any time. All cancellations must be sent to TMAC by e-mail to Elizabeth Kerr.

    Please note that only members in good standing are eligible for participation in the media marketplace. For every appointment schedule you opt-in for, industry members must have the correlating membership as well. For example, if your organization would like to have more than one appointment schedule, you must also have an appropriate number of TMAC memberships (i.e., if you represent several clients and want three appointment schedules, your company must have at least three membership representatives).
